A laboratory doctor at the Gazakh District Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology has been arrested on charges of fraud.
According to Bizimyol.info, the 48-year-old female doctor allegedly deceived residents of Gazakh and surrounding districts by promising to resolve issues related to their suspended pensions or to help a war-participating doctor obtain the status of “veteran.” She is accused of taking money under these pretexts.
Charged under Articles 178.2.2 and 178.2.4 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed repeatedly and causing significant damage), the doctor — identified as Termina — was taken into custody directly in the courtroom of the Gazakh District Court after the verdict was announced. She was sentenced to two years and two months in prison. The doctor is accused of defrauding four individuals.
According to the indictment, she promised to restore disability pensions for certain people, brought them from Tovuz, Aghstafa, and even to Baku, arranged medical examinations in hospitals, but ultimately those individuals were refused disability status. Some time later, realizing they had been deceived, the victims began demanding their money back.
Termina, however, denies the charges, calling the accusations slander and falsehoods. She insists she does not know the people recognized as victims in the case and does not understand why they filed complaints against her.
The defendant, who stated that she is visually impaired (Group I disability) and also suffers from a lung disease, declared in court:
“On the contrary, I am the one who has grounds for complaint. These people are slandering me. If they gave money to someone, they should take it back from that person — not accuse me.”
The victims, however, testified against her and also submitted their correspondence as evidence. The court found her guilty and ruled for her imprisonment.
