The United Kingdom will deploy its fighter jets to help defend Polish airspace, following a surge in violations over Poland.
According to Sky News, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the decision, stressing that it comes as part of NATO operations. The aircraft to be sent are Royal Air Force Typhoon fighters, which will conduct air defense missions over Poland.
“This is not just a show of force. It is a real contribution to the defense not only of Poland, but of the entire NATO security system,” Starmer said.
The British Typhoons will join forces from Denmark, France, and Germany, which have already reinforced NATO’s eastern flank.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk revealed that an unmanned aerial vehicle had been detected flying over government buildings in Poland and was swiftly intercepted. Police later detained two Belarusian nationals in connection with the incident.
