Famed Turkish businessman and media tycoon Acun Ilıcalı, who also served as a board member and vice president of the Fenerbahçe Sports Club, has officially resigned from his position.
As reported by Bizimyol.info, the announcement was first made via Fenerbahçe’s official social media channels. Shortly after, Ilıcalı shared a personal farewell message reflecting on his time with the club.
“I would like to share with you that I have stepped down from my role as a member of the Board of Directors of Fenerbahçe, a position I held with great pride,” Ilıcalı wrote. “I was born a Fenerbahçe fan. The yellow-and-blue jersey has been the purest and most passionate part of my life since childhood. Although my tenure on the board came with its share of challenges, every moment was an honor for me. I faced criticism, received support, and fought hard. But I never forgot this: everything here was for Fenerbahçe.”
Acun Ilıcalı was appointed as vice president of the club in June 2024.
Following Ilıcalı’s departure, another major development has emerged from Fenerbahçe. Club president Ali Koç has reportedly decided to continue working with head coach José Mourinho. However, three of Mourinho’s assistants will be leaving the club. Reports also indicate that Fenerbahçe has begun searching for new assistant coaches from the English Premier League to support Mourinho going forward.
